Started in 2020, is a series of figures created from mold, fungal, and bacterial cell cultures. A culture is a collection of techniques where cells are grown in an artificial environment. The vision of the series is to create a world to present the beautiful nature of human and animal forms, but visualized in the colorful patterns and irregular shapes developed within the cultures themselves.
Shawn Adomanis (b. 1976) is a mostly self-taught artist. His personal works focus mainly on traditional media, experimenting with many styles and surfaces. Over the years, that has ranged from original painted skateboards to watercolor illustrations to oil paintings. He is currently working on a 30 part series titled “Cultured Figures”.
For more than 25 years, Shawn has been a professional digital designer, medical illustrator, 3D artist, programmer, and animator. Currently, he works as a Creative Director with over 20 years in the life sciences industry. Shawn resides in Red Lion, PA with his wife, Meredith. They have 3 children and 5 grandchildren.
